Divided Shores
The AEGEA Conflict
Prologue
Trachion, situated between the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the rugged landscapes of its hinterland, grappled with severe challenges for many years. The nation was on the brink of bankruptcy, and although support from European neighbors provided a temporary respite, it wasn’t enough. Misguided decisions at the governmental level led to a resurgence of economic difficulties. Trachion struggled to stand on its own amid these recurring downturns.
The nation’s rich cultural and historical tapestry, influenced by ancient civilizations and its strategic Mediterranean location, couldn’t shield it from internal strife. Regional conflicts intensified, often fueled by covert interventions from neighboring countries. These nations, sharing both the Mediterranean climate and a complex web of political interests, played a significant role in Trachion’s internal affairs.
After enduring a prolonged recession and numerous regional conflicts, Trachion found itself at a crossroads. The nation, once unified in its diversity, was now deeply divided. Solutions seemed elusive, and the crisis became a focal point of discussions in European Union, G7, and NATO meetings.
Amid a desperate situation, Lysander Valtos, the Trachian Minister of Foreign Affairs, proposed a bold strategy. He suggested redistributing some regions of Trachion to adjacent countries, intending to establish a new state with the remaining territories. This groundbreaking approach was designed to bring stability to the region and rejuvenate its economy.
Consequently, specific northern regions of Trachion, were integrated into the neighboring countries Tursia, Nordia, and Albanora. This decision, the result of intense lobbying and negotiations, received the consent of the neighboring countries, the Trachian government, and, crucially, the residents of these regions.
The remaining part of Trachion, enriched with its Mediterranean heritage and a newfound sense of purpose, continued under the new banner of Aegea. Valtos, the original architect of this plan, later assumed a high-ranking position in Albanora. This sparked rumors of secret financial deals and backdoor diplomacy between the former Trachian government and its Mediterranean neighbors, adding a layer of intrigue and suspicion to the already complex geopolitical landscape of the region.
OP : Halcyon
Location: Pelagos Peninsula, Aegea
Talonia, also interested in acquiring a portion of Trachion, was left out in the cold. Following this, they issued threats towards the new government of Aegea. The Talonian navy significantly stepped up its presence. The air force frequently violated Aegean airspace. To counter the Talonian provocations, NATO dispatched a Task Force to Pelagos to support the depleted Aegean forces.
This led to a cold war between the two nations. Three months ago, Talonia sent soldiers to Pelagos to conduct reconnaissance. The infiltrators were discovered by the Aegean intelligence service, captured, and swiftly sentenced to life imprisonment on live TV for espionage and attempted sabotage. Talonia, which requested their extradition, was unsuccessful, resulting in an attack on Pelagos.
The Aegeans fiercely fought back, and after two months of warfare, Talonia ceased the conflict and withdrew its troops. Both countries agreed to exchange all POWs, except for the Talonian infiltrators who had caused the war. Last Sunday, the agreement was signed and since then, the Aegeans and their troops have been celebrating.
OP: Erebos Rising
Location: Kyrenia, Albanora
After months of investigation and infiltration, the Aegis Intelligence Directorate (AID) released a shocking report: an Albanoran mafia cell was in possession of missiles armed with VX gas, one of the deadliest nerve agents in the world. This discovery revealed an undeniable threat that demanded immediate action.
The missiles were hidden on the island of Kyrenia, a former Trachian region that had been ceded to Albanora as part of the territorial redistribution.
To neutralize the threat, AID passed the order to the elite unit Task Force Poseidon. The operation began with a diplomatically risky raid on the island. Despite heavy resistance from Albanoran mafiosi, Task Force Poseidon successfully secured the missiles. The discovery not only confirmed the threat but also posed a logistical and moral challenge: neutralizing the VX gas without endangering the local population or their own forces.
With AID’s support, a plan was devised. The village of Kyrelos, located near an abandoned weapons bunker, was chosen as the site for an improvised chemical lab to dismantle the gas. This location was selected due to its remote position and the availability of strategic defensive structures. Several chemical experts were urgently flown to the region to assist.
As Task Force Poseidon prepared to neutralize the VX gas, they faced an unexpected threat: the Hoplite Vanguard. This rebel movement, fiercely determined to reunite former Trachian territories with the newly formed Aegea, had caught wind of the operation.
Kastor, a former Trachian officer who had risen to prominence as a commander within the Vanguard, saw the situation as an opportunity to draw international attention to the ‘injustice’ of the Albanoran annexation of Kyrenia.
Driven by their deeply rooted ideology and supported by a network of local sympathizers, the Hoplite Vanguard once again proved to be a formidable adversary for Task Force Poseidon. As the clock ticked and the pressure mounted to neutralize the chemical threat, the Vanguard’s persistent presence added a dangerous and unpredictable element to the mission.
OP: Erebos Shroud
Following the success of OP: EREBOS RISING, Task Force Poseidon believed the VX threat had been eliminated. Multiple warheads were secured and dismantled under tight security, with Aegis Intelligence Directorate (AID) specialists overseeing the operation.
However, follow-up reports revealed a critical gap in the original assessment.
New evidence — recovered from a compromised informant and confirmed via satellite reconnaissance — indicated that one warhead had never been recovered. Hidden in the chaos of the initial raid, it was intercepted and extracted by remnants of the Hoplite Vanguard during their withdrawal from Kyrelos.
Although the village of Kyrelos is no longer under Vanguard control, intelligence suggests Kastor remains active in the surrounding region. Still operating from the shadows, the Vanguard commander is believed to be preparing a chemical device. The intended target, delivery method, and timeline remain unknown. What is certain, however, is the catastrophic potential. A single VX warhead in hostile hands could destabilize the entire region.
In response, Task Force Poseidon has been redeployed to the Kyrelos sector under emergency authorization. Their mission is clear: locate the missing warhead, disrupt Vanguard operations, and neutralize the threat posed by Kastor before the device can be deployed. With time working against them and local support for the Vanguard growing, the stakes are higher than ever.
OP: Icarus Fall
Daedalus Industries, the leading technology company from Nordia, is preparing to unveil its most ambitious project to date. Under the guidance of visionary engineer Dr. Nikolas Theon, the company is developing Project ICARUS: an advanced long-range autonomous drone system designed to support humanitarian operations, border monitoring, and peacekeeping missions.
Thanks to its innovative character and strong ethical vision, Daedalus Industries has maintained close cooperation with NATO for many years. Within this framework, ICARUS is regarded as a significant step toward the responsible and non-offensive use of autonomous technology.
The strategic importance of the project has also drawn the personal attention of NATO Secretary-General Markos Rytis, who will personally visit the FORGE-3 Experimental Aerospace Facility to see ICARUS in action and further strengthen the collaboration with Daedalus Industries.
While Nordia is a stable country, the FORGE-3 facility is located very close to the border with the unstable Aegea region. Due to this proximity, the area is considered potentially risky, even though no concrete threats are currently identified.
Innovation and diplomacy come together under the watchful eye of Task Force Poseidon, responsible for ensuring security and stability during this crucial visit.
